LANDSCAPE ON LONGING, Installation, cast wax and wood, 25’ x 15’, x 10’, The Nine Gallery, Portland, OR 1995
Woman resides within this domestic interior as a presence encountered through absence. She is represented by a dress form, which also resembles a tiered cake. The dress, the fireplace, the picture, and the wainscoting that frame the room are all glazed with wax surfaces of animal and plant forms cast from baking utensils. The color of the wax is that of aged satin. Nostalgia permeates this room; it is a landscape on longing.
